Measured spin is not a spec-sheet detail
Spin is the hardest thing a consumer launch monitor has to do and the easiest to get wrong. The marked-ball approach exists precisely because measured spin and estimated spin are not the same number.
It matters for one concrete reason: spin drives descent angle, and descent angle decides whether your approach holds the green or runs out the back. If your spin is estimated, every conclusion built on it is soft.
AVA treats the two differently rather than presenting them with equal confidence. With marked balls, wedge and approach findings are ones you can act on. Without them, AVA says the finding is directional and moves on to something firmer.
Short sessions, long history
A portable unit gets used in bursts: forty balls before work, a bucket after the office, ten minutes in a net. None of that is a session by the standards of a fitting bay.
Forty shots proves nothing about a swing change. Twenty sessions of forty shots proves a great deal, and that is a question you can only ask if something is keeping the history.

What the mat is giving you
Most MLM2PRO data comes off a range mat, and mats are forgiving in a specific way: they let a slightly fat strike slide into the ball instead of digging. Carry off a mat therefore tends to sit above what the same swing produces off turf.
That is not a reason to distrust the unit. It is a reason to treat session carry as your ceiling and course carry as the truth, which is exactly how AVA holds them: sessions set the ladder, rounds decide which rungs cost you shots.
The habit worth building is picking your yardage from the reliable end of your distribution rather than the middle of it, and letting the data tell you where that line sits instead of guessing.
MLM2PRO questions, answered
Do I have to use the marked balls?
Only when you care about spin, which means wedge work, descent angle and anything about holding greens. For gapping and carry work, any consistent ball is fine.
What does the MLM2PRO add over the original MLM?
Measured spin, spin axis and club data. That moves the file from 'how far did it go' to 'why did it do that', and it is what lets AVA separate a face pattern from a path pattern.
Are forty-ball sessions worth uploading?
Yes. That is the intended use. A single short session proves little, but AVA reads your history as one data set, so a few months of them is genuinely strong evidence.
Does AVA need the Impact Vision clips?
No. The analysis runs entirely on shot data. The swing analyzer will use your video when you have it, comparing a swing against your own best swings from the same session.
Does AVA change anything in my Rapsodo account?
