SHOT SCOPE V5 + AVA GOLF
The V5's advantage is that it tells you things while you can still use them: distance to the front, your own average with the club in your hand, what actually carries the bunker.
Used well, that changes decisions in real time, and decisions are where a surprising share of amateur strokes are won. Used badly, it just adds numbers to a moment where you needed commitment.
AVA works on the other side of the round. It reads the whole log afterwards and tells you which decisions were costing you, so the next round's in-the-moment numbers get used on the shots that matter.
A watch that shows your average distance is only as good as that average. And an average is the middle of a distribution: roughly half your shots finish short of it.
In the round above nine of sixteen approaches finished off the green, missing by around fifty-five yards on average, and eleven of the sixteen were played from rough or sand. That is what playing best-case yardages out of a lie you did not choose looks like on a scorecard, repeated across a season.
AVA reads the distribution rather than the mean and gives you the number you can commit to. Then the number on your wrist stops being optimistic, and the front-edge misses stop.
Look at the scorecard above. Two holes did the damage: a 7 on the par-4 2nd and a 6 on the par-4 9th, five shots between them. Take those back and the same golf is a level-par nine.
This is the most common shape in amateur scoring, and it means the fastest route to a lower handicap is usually not better golf: it is fewer disasters.
AVA finds the holes and the decisions where your rounds actually break, prices each one, and hands you the small number of changes that would have saved the most shots. A V5 on your wrist is then the tool that executes them.
