One block, two readouts

Seventy-one 7-irons. One of them told you something.

Both columns describe the same forty minutes in the bay. The left one is accurate and complete. The right one is the one you can act on.

The finding

You practised the club you already own. Your 7 and 8-iron carry within six yards of each other, which leaves seventeen yards under them with nothing to hit — and that band is where eight of your last twelve approach shots came from.

Three setups, side by side

What each setup can actually tell you

The plus in SkyTrak+ is the club: with delivery measured, a bad shot stops being a mystery and becomes a cause you can practise.

The middle column is the honest one: a folder of sessions is not a plan. What changes in the third is that every shot is weighed against the golf you actually play, and the order that comes back is what to hit next.

Finding the leak is half of it. AVA matches what your sessions exposed to lessons from nationally ranked teaching professionals, and rebuilds the playlist as your game moves. No lesson fees, no drill library to search.

Face or path: the fork that decides your winter

Every golfer with a consistent curve faces the same question, and almost nobody answers it with data: is the ball starting off line, or is it starting on line and curving?

Those look identical on a range and need opposite fixes. A face-dominant pattern is a grip, alignment or setup job: cheap, fast, often fixed inside a session. A path-dominant pattern is a genuine swing rebuild, and it takes a coach and months.

Original SkyTrak sees the ball and infers. SkyTrak+ measures the club, so AVA can say which one you have. Getting that fork right is worth more than any single drill, because it stops you spending a winter on the expensive answer to a cheap problem.

What the + does not change

Gapping. Dispersion. Carry distribution. Strike decay across a session. Every one of those findings works from ball data alone, which is why the original SkyTrak remains a genuinely useful unit and why AVA's headline findings are usually the same on both.

Look at the sample session: the largest single finding is a seventeen-yard hole in the middle of the bag, and you do not need club delivery to find it. It is a bench visit, not a lesson.

The + earns its price on attribution: telling you which of two very different fixes applies. Think of it as buying a better answer to 'why', not more answers overall.

Practise the delivery numbers, not the ball numbers

The trap with a club-data unit is chasing a target: a path of plus two, an attack angle of minus four. Those numbers are outputs of a swing, and aiming at them directly usually produces a compensation rather than a change.

AVA reads them as evidence instead. Path and face explain the miss; the miss is priced in strokes; the strokes decide the order of work. What you actually practise is a movement, with the delivery numbers as the scoreboard.

That is also why AVA prescribes video from Top 100 teaching professionals against the finding rather than the metric: the fix for a face-dominant push is a grip lesson, not a target number.

SkyTrak+ questions, answered

Is the analysis different from the original SkyTrak?

The headline findings are usually the same: gapping, dispersion, carry distribution and strike decay all come from ball data. What SkyTrak+ adds is attribution: whether your miss is a face pattern or a path pattern, which is the fork between a one-session fix and a months-long one.

Do I need to hit marked or premium balls?

For spin conclusions, use one consistent premium ball. Range and foam balls do not spin like a premium ball, and AVA weighs spin-dependent findings accordingly rather than pretending every ball is the same.

Does it work indoors into a net?

Yes. Impact-adjacent numbers (club speed, ball speed, smash factor, launch) are solid, and they are plenty for strike work. AVA sets the yardages you play to from your outdoor and on-course data.

Should I aim at specific path and attack-angle numbers?

No. Those are outputs, and aiming at them directly tends to produce compensations. AVA reads them as evidence for what the miss is, prices the miss in strokes, and prescribes work against the finding.

Does AVA change anything in the SkyTrak app or cloud?

No. AVA reads the file you export and never writes back. Your sessions and account stay exactly as they are.
