Professional data, amateur priorities
An X3 is usually in the room because a coach or a fitter put it there, which means the data is excellent and the conversation around it is technical. That is the right conversation for a tour player and often the wrong one for a golfer shooting in the eighties.
For that golfer, the largest single category of lost strokes is almost always approach play, and the most common cause is a yardage habit rather than a delivery fault: playing to a best-case carry, missing short, over and over.
AVA prices every finding in strokes against a scratch baseline, which keeps the professional-grade measurement pointed at the amateur-grade problem. Sometimes the answer to a full X3 report is 'take one more club'.
Use the pairs, not the singles
The discipline that separates useful delivery analysis from noise is refusing to read a parameter alone. Club path means nothing without face angle. Attack angle means nothing without launch and spin. Face-to-path is the pair that actually predicts the curve.
AVA reads them as pairs by design, then converts the resulting pattern into a cost. That is what allows a delivery finding to be compared against a gapping finding on one scale, and it is the comparison that decides the order of work.
It is also why a finding comes back as 'your miss is the same shape in every club, aim at the right edge' rather than as a target number to chase. Targets produce compensations; patterns produce plans.
Keep the session, not just the screenshot
X3 data is usually generated in someone else's studio, and it usually stays there. A photo of the summary screen is not a file: it cannot be compared to anything later, and it drops out of your history the moment the lesson ends.
Ask for the CSV. It costs the studio thirty seconds and it is your data. Three exported X3 sessions across a season is a stronger baseline than most amateurs will ever have.
Loaded into AVA, they stop being three lessons and become a trend, held against your rounds, so the question 'did the change actually reach the golf course?' has an answer.
X3 questions, answered
I hit on an X3 at my coach's studio. Can I use that data?
Yes. Ask for the session CSV before you leave. It is your data, it exports in seconds, and it is the highest-quality file most golfers will ever produce.
Does AVA use every parameter the X3 reports?
It reads all of them and reports on the ones moving your score. The rest feed trends rather than crowding the read: thirty numbers with no ranking is the problem, not the solution.
Should I chase specific delivery numbers?
No. AVA reads path and face as a pair, converts the pattern into a cost in strokes, and prescribes work against the finding. Aiming at a target number usually builds a compensation.
Can I mix X3 sessions with my home Mevo+ data?
Yes. Shared parameters line up and AVA keeps the sessions separate rather than averaging them, so a studio session and a garage session both stay honest.
Does AVA change anything in the FS Golf app?
