The Launch Pro is a unit where two owners can hold the same hardware and produce different files: ball data comes with every plan, and club data is a separate unlock on top of the software subscription.
It is worth knowing which you have before you draw conclusions. A ball-only file is completely sufficient for the highest-value finding most golfers get (a gapping hole in the middle of the bag) but it cannot tell you whether a wide carry spread came off the toe.
AVA reads the file rather than the spec sheet, and says which conclusions the data supports. That is more useful than filling the gaps with a model and presenting the result with the same confidence as a measurement.
Camera measurement is why this works indoors
Radar needs flight to measure. Into a net, the ball is gone in a few feet, and more of the numbers become modelled rather than observed.
A photometric unit reads the ball at impact, so a Launch Pro in a garage produces the same quality of ball data as a Launch Pro outdoors. For a home setup with a low ceiling and no run-out, that is the entire argument for this class of unit.
AVA treats a Launch Pro net session as a full session rather than discounting its carry the way it discounts radar-in-a-net carry. Your gapping ladder off this unit is one you can actually play to.
One session, one question
Portable units get used in short bursts: forty balls before work, a bucket after the office. None of that looks like a session on its own, and a session with no question behind it produces averages rather than answers.
Give each one a question. 'What does my 8-iron actually carry?' 'Is my miss still four yards left?' Forty shots with a question attached beats two hundred without.
AVA reads your history as one continuous data set, so twenty short focused sessions become a genuinely strong picture of your game, which is a completely different thing from twenty short sessions you never looked at again.
Launch Pro questions, answered
Is the Launch Pro the same as a Foresight unit?
It is Foresight hardware and Foresight photometric measurement, Bushnell-branded, and it reports through FSX, so the export path is the Foresight family's. AVA reads the GCQuad and GC3 export shape today; a Launch Pro CSV in that same FSX shape gets the same analysis, and one that is not comes back as an email telling you so rather than silence.
Do I need the club-data unlock?
Not for the highest-value findings. Gapping, dispersion, carry and spin all work from ball data. Club and impact fields are what let AVA attribute a carry spread to strike rather than to the swing: useful, not essential.
Will AVA guess at parameters my plan doesn't export?
No. It reads what is in the file and says which conclusions that supports. Inferring club delivery from ball data and presenting it as measured would be worse than leaving it out.
Does it work in a net?
Yes, and better than radar does: it reads the ball at impact rather than tracking flight. A net session is a full session.
Does AVA change anything in FSX or my Bushnell account?
No. AVA reads the file you export and never writes back.
Will indoor numbers distort my on-course data?
No. Practice and play are scored separately and then compared, because the gap between them is one of the most useful things in your profile. Indoor carry never silently overwrites a course yardage.
Who sees my Launch Pro data?
You do. Nothing is shared with a coach, a club or anyone else unless you send them a link, and you can export or delete everything whenever you want.
