Approach S70 AVA Golf

You track with a Garmin Approach S70.
Now change your game.

Your S70 records the whole round without you thinking about it, and those rounds already hold the answer. AVA reads the same data and hands you the two or three shots costing you the most, and how to win them back.

Connect Garmin once and you're done

Garmin is a native sync, not an export job. Authorise it once and every round you play arrives on its own, scored in strokes gained next to your practice sessions.

Connect Garmin AVA reads your rounds and never writes back. Nothing is posted to Garmin, nothing is shared with a coach or a club unless you send it, and you can disconnect or delete everything whenever you want.

The watch is a recorder, not an analyst

An S70 captures a round accurately with no effort from you, which is genuinely valuable and also the easy half of the problem.

The hard half is ranking. A round summary tells you where the ball finished on every hole and leaves you to decide which parts of it mattered. Made by feel, that decision is reliably wrong in the same direction: we blame the memorable miss, not the expensive habit.

AVA prices everything the watch records in strokes against a scratch baseline, so driving, approach play, short game and penalties land on one comparable scale. Putting joins them once CT10 sensors log the putter. The order that comes back is what you should practise.

Your watch already knows your real yardages

One of the most useful things in a Garmin profile is measured club distance, because it is built from real shots on real turf rather than a mat on a good day.

It is almost always shorter than the number a golfer quotes, which is why the approaches in the round above average 31.7 feet from the pin: the yardage being played is a best-case carry, from a lie that will not produce it.

If you also practise with an Approach launch monitor, AVA holds both sides and reports the difference as its own finding. When practice and course disagree, the course is right.

The back nine is measurable

Most golfers describe their back-nine scoring as concentration. Sometimes it is. Often it is a decline in strike quality that starts around the same hole every round, and the watch has been recording the physical side of it the whole time.

The same pattern shows up in practice data: smash factor holding for sixty balls and then falling off a cliff. Endurance is individual and it is measurable.

AVA reads round and session data together, which is the only way to tell a decision-making problem from a fatigue problem. They need different fixes, and guessing between them costs a season.

Approach S70 questions, answered

Do I need to export rounds from my watch?

No. Rounds sync to your Garmin account, and AVA reads them from there once Garmin is connected. One authorisation and you're done.

Do I need CT10 sensors?

Not to get a read, but they change what is possible. Without them AVA works from scores, hole context and shot locations, and putts are not recorded at all. With them the club on every shot is logged, including the putter, which adds putting strokes gained and turns a vague miss into a specific yardage fix.

Does AVA change anything on my watch or in Garmin Golf?

No. The connection is read-only. Your rounds, scores, club distances and handicap stay exactly as they are.

What about the rounds I played before connecting?

AVA brings in what your Garmin account makes available rather than starting from the day you connect. History is what turns a snapshot into a trend.

Does an older Approach watch work the same way?

Yes, as long as its rounds sync into Garmin Golf. AVA reads the round from your account rather than talking to the device, so the model matters less than what it records.
