Your 18Birdies rounds already hold the answer — you keep score, track shots and log every round, and nothing reads it back to you. AVA cannot read 18Birdies yet, so this page shows what the analysis does with a tracked round, what you can start with today, and how to get 18Birdies on the list.

18BIRDIES + AVA GOLF

Turn your 18Birdies rounds into lower scores

Tracking is not analysis

18Birdies is very good at capture. Scores, GPS, shots, putts, notes: a season of golf recorded properly, with a stats page to look at afterwards.

A stats page is not a plan. It tells you your greens-in-regulation percentage and leaves you to work out whether that is your biggest problem, which is a judgement call almost every golfer gets wrong in the same direction: we blame the memorable miss rather than the expensive habit.

AVA converts every measure into strokes against a scratch baseline. Driving, approach, short game, putting and penalties land on one comparable scale, and the order that comes back is the order worth practising.

The stat that actually predicts your score

For nearly every amateur, approach play is the largest single category of lost strokes, bigger than driving, far bigger than putting. It is also the one golfers spend the least practice time on.

In the round above, approach cost −4.9 strokes across twelve shots, and eight of those twelve finished off the green, leaving 31.7 feet on average. Seven of the twelve were played from rough or sand, which is the tell: the approach number is where a driving problem shows up.

The fix is one more club and the same swing, and it is available immediately. Finding it requires something to notice that the miss is the same miss, round after round, which is exactly what a season of tracked rounds is for.

Two holes, not eighteen

Look at the scorecard above. Two holes did the damage: a 7 on the par-4 2nd and a 6 on the par-4 9th, five shots between them, with four penalty strokes in the round. The other seven holes came in at one over par between them.

This is the most common shape in amateur scoring. It means the fastest route to a lower handicap is usually not better golf: it is fewer disasters. A 3-wood where the trouble sits at 250. A wedge back into play instead of the hero shot. One more club into a front pin.

AVA finds where your rounds break, prices each decision, and hands you the small number of changes that would have saved the most shots. Then it updates as you improve, because the answer moves.

18Birdies questions, answered

Can AVA read my 18Birdies rounds?

Not today. 18Birdies is not a connected source, and there is no import path for its rounds, so nothing on this page is claiming otherwise. Tell us you want it and it goes on the list.

Is there a workaround with a CSV?

Not a reliable one. AVA's CSV import is built around shot-level launch monitor and simulator files, and an 18Birdies export does not map onto it cleanly enough to trust the output. We would rather tell you that than half-read your season.

Will my existing 18Birdies history be usable later?

That is the plan, and it is the reason to keep tracking. Your rounds live in your 18Birdies account, and a connection reads history rather than starting from the day it is switched on.

What can I analyze in the meantime?

Anything AVA reads today. Garmin rounds sync natively, and any launch monitor or simulator that exports shot rows imports directly, which covers most golfers who own more than one piece of kit.

Do I need an 18Birdies premium subscription?

Not for AVA's sake, now or later. What your 18Birdies plan includes is between you and 18Birdies; AVA's side of it is reading whatever round data you are able to share.

What about range and simulator practice?

Rounds and sessions are scored on the same scale and sit on one timeline, so you can finally see whether what you practise shows up in what you shoot.

Who sees my data?

You do. Nothing is shared with a coach, a club or anyone else unless you send them a link, and you can export or delete everything whenever you want.
